A dining table is symbolic of celebration
It’s an object that connects friends & family, a place we all congregrate during birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas and New Year for a lovely cooked meal 🙂
Christmas is only around the corner and it won’t be long until the mad rush begins! If you are lucky enough to be carving the roast turkey this year then you will need a suitable dining solution to accomodate all of your guests. Here are some of my favourite designs that achieve the look, the practicalities and perfect for squeezing a few more bums around the table too!
Floating on ‘Air’ – Lago Air Table in a Wildwood top With Koinor Brunch Benches
Air – This chunky, reclaimed looking table top has the illusion that it is floating by being positioned on clear glass legs. You get the benefits of a large table without it dominating the room.
By pairing it with Koinor leather benches you can maximise the seating capacity and squeeze a few extra people on with no need to find extra chairs that clutter the look. I like the idea of this corner combination wrapping around two sides of the table and placing four Calligaris ‘Parissienne’ chairs in the new aubergine colour , along the opposite length .
An Extending Square Table – Maintain the minimalist, sleek glass look without the annoyance of greasy finger prints.
Calligaris now do a great range of square dining tables which are ideal for a more intimate gathering. Everyone can sit around the entire perimeter with enough space to put food in the middle – it’s perfect for everyone to tuck in and help themselves! I particularly love the extending ‘Omnia’ version in a Walnut veneer leg and acid etched glass top (finger print proof glass) because it has a brilliant mechanism that is so simple to use … great if you don’t want to take up too much space in your room with a huge table 100% of the time. The new ‘Bloom’ chair works well with this table in a transparent amber seat and matching Walnut leg.
For A Reclaimed Vintage Look
Timothy Oulton has a brilliant range of salvaged looking furniture which uses reclaimed wood sourced from Chinese boat yards. Each piece has it’s own raw, unique characteristics and can look great mixed with modern furniture. I love the Axel table and benches, again, giving you maximum seating without the need for lots of chairs .
Extending Table that is Heat proof, Scratch Proof and Shock Resistant – Probably as child proof as you can get!
The ‘Traslo’ dining table is another one of Calligaris’s latest designs that encompasses a new extension mechanism with an unbeatable ceramic stone top, suitable for the chaos of family life. You can scrape a key across this table top and it doesn’t mark, the only mark that is left behind is the residue that has come of the actual key itself but it’s wiped away in seconds! I love the industrial feel to this table with no need for a table cloth and place mats. It can look great in a modern interior, a Victorian property or even a converted warehouse apartment, contrasted against exposed brickwork.
So, which one is your favourite dining solution?
