I have been looking for mirrors to go in my kitchen and downstairs loo! I bought a lovely convex mirror a couple of years ago for £5 in a warehouse clearance sale. It was reduced because the paint was peeling. I couldn’t resist the temptation and bought it with the idea that I would repaint it, although I haven’t actually got round to it yet!

I planned to paint it black originally, but then I came across a lovely shop in The Bluecoat called ‘The painted chair‘ who sell Chalk Paint and I ended up buying a rich teal blue colour. The lady in the shop gave a very helpful demonstration and I couldn’t believe how easy it was. You don’t need to sand or prime the surface you are painting so it makes it very quick and simple. I can’t wait to try it out! This mirror will go in my downstairs bathroom, expect an update once it’s finished! I am also up-cycling an old chest of drawers in the same colour for my spare room.

I have also been browsing the internet for alternative ideas in other rooms and came across some really eye catching and interesting pieces!  I am considering buying the Santiago scatter mirrors from John Lewis to go in my kitchen.

I like the idea of putting mirrors on the wall that face the patio doors in our kitchen, so they reflect the light and the view of my garden. With clever positioning, mirrors can make a room look much larger and brighter than it actually is so it’s good to think carefully about the best position rather than plonking it on any wall.
