If you read my post a couple of weeks back you will know I was on the hunt for a property.
I thought I’d give an update on my property search seen as a lot has happened since then! After I wrote that post I kind of gave up looking because it got a bit overwhelming due to changing my mind a gazillion times in one week. I decided to have a break from looking and save up a bit of extra money, whilst living in my parents for a bit (cushy life at the moment might I add!).
But then my mother kept moving my things and asking what I was doing every half an hour, so I thought I can’t take this any more and I need to find my own place…
…only joking mother! I know she will be reading this so I thought I’d write that and see her reaction 🙂 I will be honest with you, living in my parents temporarily has been the best decision I’ve ever made because I’ve had my tea cooked for me every night, which I appreciate so much! You don’t realise how much hard work it is to juggle a full-time job, house chores, cooking, cleaning, renovating a home and attempting to have a social life. That is until you take the plunge in buying your first home! I really don’t know how people cope when you throw kids into the mix as well. So anyway, I have thoroughly enjoyed being looked after by my Mum and Dad for this short period of time and I’m going to make the most of it whilst I can!
Anyway I digress. So, I unexpectedly came across a property that seemed too good to miss out on. I arranged a viewing on Saturday and put an offer in yesterday, which was accepted. Woohoo!
At first I was hesitant about telling anyone about it until it all went through properly because I’m a bit superstitious and didn’t want to jinx things. But then I thought it would actually be good to blog about the whole process from start to finish, and if things don’t work out, it wasn’t meant to be.
So this is the start of a scary journey buying a property on my own and having to completely renovate it from top to bottom! EEK
The work that needs doing are as follows…
- Central Heating To Be Installed
- New Kitchen
- New Bathroom
- New Flooring throughout
- New Rendering on the back
- New Back Windows and Door
- Plastering upstairs
I have a set myself a budget to do all the work. Lets see how that goes! I’m now just waiting for a valuation/ survey to be arranged through the mortgage lender before it all becomes official…I’m excited but scared at the same time! I just hope it all goes ok.
I will let you know of any challenges faced along the way and how I overcome them. Also, if I think of any tips to help you when buying a property I will make sure to mention them too! Wish me luck and stay tuned to follow me on this journey.
