It may be only November, but we’re thinking about Christmas early this year! We’ve been on the look out for the best independent homeware stores around Manchester and the North West to buy from this festive season.

It goes without saying that we’ve all had a challenging year in one way or another. As another national lockdown looms, it’s now more important than ever to support our local independent stores across the North West as we approach Christmas.

Remember to get your orders in to these beautiful independent homeware stores as early as possible. You may be used to doing your Christmas shopping at the last minute, but this year is going to be different. We don’t want December to be overwhelmingly stressful for local businesses, so get organised and bag yourself some unique gifts early this year.

Founded by a husband and wife team in 2009, Object showcases homeware products as well as mens and womenswear from around the world. They choose to support independent producers and hand-select every product in their shop. You’re guaranteed to find a hidden gem here!

Rose & Grey are leaders in sourcing design-led homewares. They presented their first collection online back in 2008, which proved to be incredibly popular. They opened their Altrincham shop and showroom in 2016. They are becoming increasingly popular amongst the interior design community for their top-notch customer service and the quality of their products.

Established in 1999, Utility now have three shops: two in Liverpool and one in Manchester where they primarily sell gifts and small homeware pieces. But online, they have a whole host of carefully sourced furniture and accessories to choose from.

Idaho is situated in the heart of Altrincham, and is just a stones throw away from the famous market. The homewares on offer at Idaho are vibrant: expect to find a range of textiles and home accessories as well as jewellery and stationery. If you’re stuck for a gift, this is the perfect place to look (but be prepared to buy some pieces for yourself too!).

Started during lockdown (#1), The Conscious Houseplant Co are committed to selling plastic-free houseplants at every stage of the process, from growing, to transporting to selling. The wonderful selection of plants are potted in coconut fibre pots and are planted in peat-free compost. Each plant comes with a fact file explaining the ideal environment needed for it to flourish – could you want any more from a houseplant company?!
