This contemporary penthouse apartment was designed as part of the iconic Tobacco Warehouse redevelopment in Liverpool, sitting atop the existing historic structure. Our brief was to deliver a refined, design-led interior that would appeal to the premium residential market, while still honouring the industrial heritage that defines the wider development.
Our services included full interior design, bespoke joinery design, on-site project support liaising closely with contractors, and interior styling for professional photography, all delivered to a tight programme to meet developer deadlines.
As the penthouses were newly constructed additions to the roof of the original warehouse, they did not benefit from the exposed brickwork and raw architectural character found throughout the lower floors. A key part of our design approach was therefore to reintroduce this sense of authenticity. We carefully integrated brick slips to feature walls and structural pillars, creating visual continuity with the historic fabric of the building while ensuring the apartments still felt contemporary, warm and considered.
Internally, the scheme balances industrial loft-style elements with refined, modern living. Rich textures, layered lighting, and a warm, earthy palette were used throughout to soften the architectural lines and create inviting, liveable spaces. Bespoke joinery solutions were designed to maximise storage and functionality without compromising on aesthetics, while the furniture layouts in the open plan dining and living areas were carefully zoned to enhance flow and spatial clarity.
The final interiors deliver character-rich penthouse living that feels both rooted in Liverpool’s industrial past and aligned with the expectations of modern city living — a sophisticated, design-led addition to one of the city’s most recognisable residential developments.
